Section 12: Chapter 21 & 22 Summary

Outside of class in Chapter 21, Kennedy tells Jacqueline that Buck is claiming his actions with Mindi were consensual and that he never hooked up with Jacqueline, and though he apologizes for trying to convince her to drop the charges, it comes too late. After class, Lucas and Jacqueline make plans for Thursday night. Curious, Jacqueline researches Lucas online and learns that eight years ago, his mother was raped and Lucas was restrained in his bedroom while his father was away on a business trip. The Hellers found them after Dr. Ray Maxfield asked his friends to check on his family. Jacqueline pursues more information, going to talk to Dr. Heller who tells her that the scars on Lucas' wrists came from his attempts to free himself and save his mother.
