Section 6: Chapter 9 & 10 Summary

In Chapter 9, Jacqueline asks Erin's advice about Lucas since he barely smiles at her at the end of class, and Erin suggests that it seems like he is trying to resist his attraction to her. Jacqueline tells Erin about Landon, but Erin insists "you can't fall for a guy without ever seeing him" (page 99), so they decide to make Landon Plan B. On Jacqueline's way back upstairs after washing her laundry while Erin is at work, Buck appears and begins groping Jacqueline, but rather than be raped in the stairwell, Jacqueline convinces him to go back to her room. Fortunately, some of Jacqueline's neighbors are in the hallway, so she kicks Buck out, but Buck's commentary before he leaves convinces the onlookers that Jacqueline already gave herself to him in the stairwell. Having narrowly escaped Buck, Jacqueline decides to tell Erin...
