Summary

The third chapter jumps ahead in time. Natsuki was 34 and had been married for three years. Her husband, Tomoya, worked in Tokyo at a restaurant in Tokyo. She had been working as an office temp in Tokyo, too, but her contract had just run out and she had a few weeks off to find new work and lounge around. They lived near the train station, just a few minutes from her childhood home. She and her husband had separate bedrooms and ate their meals separately too.

Shizuka texted her and said she had heard she was no longer working. They made plans to meet up. They had gone to different high schools and colleges, but Shizuka had moved back to town six years prior when she got married and they had gotten back into touch with one another.
