Paul Atreides

The hero of Dune, Paul is fifteen-years-old at the beginning of the novel, the heir to the Atreides dukedom. He inherits not the lush planet Caladan, which his ancestors have ruled for 26 generations, but the desert planet Arrakis, also known as Dune. Paul has received Bene Gesserit mental and physical training from his mother and experiences prophetic dreams. The sisterhood and Padishah Emperor suspect he could be the long-awaited Kwisatz Haderach, and dispatch the Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam to test him. She is convinced that it could be true. Paul is the first intended victim of assassination on Dune, but his quick reactions foil the plot.
