Book 3 (pgs. 459-483) Summary

On the evening of the victory, Paul reclaims his father's first residency on Dune. A cave might be more secure, as Halleck suggest, but less symbolic. Destruction during the fighting has been extensive but clean up is underway. Inwardly, Paul sees jihad raging through a gap in time and sighs. Halleck reports that the Emperor is holed up in his ship and Harkonnens are being looked for among the dead. Paul orders a Sardaukar prisoner sent in to begin discussing terms. Paul encounters Alia's presence within his awareness, off in the future, where she has placed words for him alone to hear. She finds this amusing and adds as a postscript that she has killed their Grandfather. When Stilgar approaches, he is amazed to hear Paul say they have just found.....
