Summary

Beginning on Page 250, the next section is another Snapshot, identified as "13 Ridgecrest, Dove Canyon." Herb is now certain that the water from the extra tank was tainted, though it did not taste bad. He knows Daphne is near death and he was barely able to stand while talking to Alyssa and Garrett. He has noticed that no one is moving around the community, and believes everyone is sick. He notices an orange prescription bottle he has not seen before and sees that the label reads “Keflex,” which makes him “reevaluate his whole concept of reality” (252).

The perspective changes to Kelton. Kelton feels like he does not know anyone, including himself, in this new reality. He cannot get the image of Brady's death out of his mind. He knows he would have killed someone if Alyssa had not intervened and he now feels assured...
