Chapters 31-36 Summary

Myron and Win attend Valerie's funeral, where Helen Van Slyke asks Myron if he knows who hurt Valerie. Myron says he does, and Helen asks him to come back to the house after the church service. At Brentman Hall, Myron has Win distract Kenneth so that he can meet with Helen alone. Myron confronts Helen about Pavel's abuse of Valerie. Helen at first brushes Myron off, telling him that Valerie was of legal age. Myron realizes that Helen has been taking money from Pavel and TruPro to keep things quiet. Helen denies it at first and then tells Myron that someone had threatened to kill Valerie and harm her family if she told the truth.
