Incident at the Window Summary

On one of his Sunday walks with Mr. Enfield, Utterson admits that he's uneasy about poor Jekyll, and suggests they step into the courtyard and have a look at the windows. At the middle window, they spot Dr. Jekyll, and Utterson calls up to him.

Jekyll admits he's very low, but says it won't last long. When Utterson asks if they can come up, Jekyll says they'd better not, but he'd like them to stay a while and talk to him. The words are hardly out of his mouth when his face contorts in horror, freezing the blood of the watchers. Then the window is thrown down, concealing Jekyll inside.
