The Carew Murder Case Summary

Nearly a year passes, and then, in October, London is startled by the senseless murder of a gentleman named Sir Danvers Carew. The crime is witnessed by a maid, who, looking out an upstairs window, recognizes a certain Mr. Hyde advancing along the lane toward an aged, nice-looking gentleman. The two men couldn't have been more different: although she's never met Carew, the maid senses kindness in him, while Hyde, on the other hand, had inspired in her an immediate dislike on the one occasion he'd visited her employer. Hyde is carrying a heavy cane, and listens impatiently as Carew appears to ask for directions. Then, all of a sudden, Hyde erupts in rage and clubs Carew to the ground. As the man lies prostrate, Hyde stomps on him, shattering his.....
