Summary

In Chapter 14, the police question Janina, as she was the one who was supposed to drive the President home from a Society party that they both attended. Janina pondered the stars and planets as she waited for him, and she eventually went inside to search for him. She says she did not find him. He was later found dead. The police ask her if she was acquainted with the President and with Innerd. She says that she only knew them casually. It is rumored that the President was found covered in beetles. Janina mentions astrology and the letters she wrote to the police. The police continue to dismiss those views. The police hold Janina in custody as a suspect. Janina sits in a cell and thinks about astrology. She is released the next day after the police searched her house. Janina begins to suffer...
