At thirteen, David was flattered when a hippie girl stopped him and begged for money. It was obvious that she thought he was much older. Sharon was waiting in the car while he ran in a convenience store to get her cigarettes. David didn't think his mother would mind so he gave the girl a dollar. But Sharon did mind and insisted that he get the dollar back from the girl. The next time David went to the store, he was by himself. He gave a guy hippie who was begging for money fifty cents.
