Summary

Chapter 7 is from Wren's perspective. She needs some supplies, including clothes because her dress is worn out and too small. Both Wren and Sky are growing and changing. They settle into a valley near the Indestructible City, which Wren believes is the “one place in the world that fought back against the dragons” (90). Sky remains hidden in the valley. Wren discovers the city is built on the side of a mountain with steep steps upward. Few new people are allowed inside, though the families gathered outside the gates are obviously desperate. She learns that the ruler here, the Invincible Lord, will grant entrance to anyone who brings the Dragonslayer.

Wren decides to leave without supplies but crashes into a young man carrying a cat and accompanied by guards. She learns he is Prince Undauntable, the son of the Invincible Lord. Wren is on...
