Summary

The novel opens with a map of the continent the characters of this novel inhabit. It was called Pyrrhia in the previous novel of this series, but it is not named in this one. The continent is shaped like a dragon and includes geographical landmarks as well as the locations of the notable human cities. These include Talisman, Valor, and the Indestructible City. The remainder of the land mass is identified by the human fear of the dragons that live there. The next section is titled “A Wingwatcher's Guide to Dragons” and includes the seven dragon tribes. They are identified differently from the previous novel of this series because the perspective has changed from that of dragons to humans. The rarely seen Night Dragons are considered unimportant.
