The five Weyrs make eleven stops as they jump forward in time, taking time to rest and talk to Lessa between jumps. They take time to rest and have a meal before the final 12-turn jump. They count on Lessa to offer the final reference point. Lessa wants to arrive at Ruatha before F'lar knows that she has gone. She looks at the Red Star in the sky and starts shaking. She has been in this time twice—there are too many of her in this time. They must hurry and move on. In great haste, she sends the reference points to the Weyrleader's dragons.
