Summary

Chapter 1 opens with Min admitting that she likes to sleep in, though did not often have the chance. She typically had lots of chores in addition to lessons, including maintaining the hydroponics unit and picking and cooking vegetables. The family includes Min and her mother, four aunties, and several cousins. They live on Jinju, a rather dismal planet. Min is almost 15 and is looking forward to turning 17, the minimum age to join the Thousand Worlds Space Forces like her brother Jun did. There is a deep-seated prejudice against foxes because they were often sees as sly or tricky. Min's mother, Seonmi, insists that no one in the family show off their fox-spirit powers. The retain their human form and do not use their ability to Charm others. Most people believe the foxes are extinct. Min believes it is unfair because other supernatural creatures...
