Chapter 24 Summary
The group deduces that the Count will most likely sail home along the same route he took to London, across the Black Sea via the Danube. Upon investigation, they learn that only one London ship was bound for the Black Sea when the Count made his escape, the Czarina Catherine. They go to the wharf from which it departed to speak to an official. He describes a man resembling the Count who delivered a large box to be shipped aboard the Czarina Catherine. The box will disembark in the city of Varna, a port on the Black Sea, where the men hope to intercept the Count and kill him.
Van Helsing tells Seward that Mina is changing. Her teeth are longer and sharper and her eyes harder, the same changes that Lucy underwent. He fears that the Count will use the telepathic link between himself and Lucy to keep tabs...
