Chapter 14 Summary
Back home in Exeter, Harker is recovering from the shock of seeing the Count. In an attempt to better understand her husband's problems, Mina reads the journal he kept of his time at the Count's castle. Meanwhile, she receives a letter from Van Helsing requesting a visit. He wants to talk to her about Lucy. Van Helsing has read Lucy's diary as well as the letters Mina wrote to Lucy.
After Van Helsing's arrival, Mina gives the professor both her and her husband's journals to read. She is relieved to hear Van Helsing confirm that the extraordinary accounts Harker recorded in his journal are not the ravings of a madman but are, in fact, true. Relieved that he hasn't lost his mind, Harker promises to provide Van Helsing with more information about the Count.
