Chapter 13 Summary

Even though Lucy is dead, Van Helsing hints that her troubles are not over. He doesn't explain his concerns, but he asks for Seward's help and loyalty in the coming days. Arthur Holmwood, now Lord Godalming upon his father's death, visits Lucy on her deathbed and cannot believe she is really dead. She looks more robust and beautiful than ever.

While Mina and Harker are walking around London, Harker suddenly stops in his tracks to stare at a gentleman nearby on the street. He thinks it is Count Dracula, but the man looks much younger than the Count. Harker is left shaken by the encounter. Meanwhile, a local newspaper carries reports that a mysterious and beautiful woman has been injuring children in the night. The children all have small wound marks on their throats.
