Summary

Vice Principal Roy tells Greg he cannot win the prize if the balloon is not returned. Mom later announces to Greg that he and Maddox have a get-together while she and Mrs. Selsam go out for coffee. The Selsams live in a rural area, and do not have television. Instead, they have lots of books. Greg believes he will be bored until he sees Maddox’s room, which is full of Lego creations. Maddox will not let Greg touch anything he has built, so Greg must play with the random pieces in the leftovers bin. When his mom returns, Greg heads out with the balloon, but Maddox accuses him of stealing a Lego piece. Mrs. Selsam and Maddox pat Greg down, but find no Lego pieces.
