Lionel Summary

Paperman greets an old Broadway producer friend named Lionel at the airport, with four of his friends from New York, for a stay at the Gull Reef Club and scout it for a possible party of 11 people over Christmas. Lionel entertains the other guests with stories of Broadway, and the group is generally in a good mood when Paperman arrives. In addition, they are thrilled to rapture by the club and the entire Caribbean setting; Lionel keeps referring to it as "Cloud 9." He's so enthusiastic that he offers to buy the Gull Reef Club, which provokes horse laughter by both Paperman and Iris Tramm, who offers to drive him around the island.
