Summary

In Chapter 12, Horace boards a bus to Salt Lake City to attend a national boxing tournament. He is nervous to travel alone. There is a woman on the bus with a baby. The woman exist the bus for a moment, leaving her bag, and the bus begins to drive away. Horace scolds himself for not having the courage to tell the driver to stop and wait for the woman. Horace arrives in Salt Lake City and checks in at the tournament. He becomes even more nervous when he sees boxers from all over the country, all of whom are with teams and who have expensive gear. Mr. Reese surprises Horace there, saying he came to support Horace. Horace is glad to see him but is worried about losing matches in front of him. Mr. Reese talks about how, as a young man, he dreamed...
