Summary

Chapter 1. The story starts with April Corrigan reminiscing about the day “the world as we knew it ended.” April has a perfect life for a high school junior. She is dating a good looking boy named Steve, and is the best tennis player at school.

April has a brother named Bram and lives with her mother and father. They have a beautiful house and April has a room filled with antique furniture. Steve gave her a crystal prism as a gift and it hangs in her room by the window, and sends rainbows spinning through the room every morning.
