Napoleon “Nap” Dumas

Nap is the main character and narrator of this novel. Nap decided to become a police officer and investigator after the mysterious death of his twin brother, Leo, and Leo’s girlfriend, Diana, when they were teenagers. Nap wants to learn the truth about his brother’s death but does not realize how much that truth will shake the foundations of his life. He discovers that Augie, the police officer who supposedly investigated Leo and Diana’s deaths and then notified Nap and his father that Leo was dead, was responsible for Leo’s death. Augie had been a mentor and friend to Nap through the 15 years since Leo’s death and Nap is shaken to learn that someone he admired so much lied to him for so long. Nap is also hurt when he learns that his twin brother had a good deal going on...
