Part 2, Chapter 31 Summary
Quixote and Sancho enter the castle, and Sancho is immediately worried about Dapple. He asks Dona Rodriguez to please take care of Dapple, by either giving orders to put him in the stable or by putting him there herself. She is highly offended at the presumption that she should stoop to taking care of such matters. The duchess hears them and promises Sancho that she will make sure that Dapple is taken care of in comfort. The duke and duchess instruct their servants to treat the guests with utmost care and attendance. Quixote scolds Sancho for his out-of-line comments, saying that it reflects badly on both their characters. They dress for dinner, and Quixote puts on the red mantle they gave him.
