Summary

Chapter 5 is titled “Dog Jail Blues.” The police van drives up a snowy mountainside to the Dog Jail. The warden is mean and says no one ever leaves Dog Jail. They enter a room where there are seven dogs seated around a table. The dogs are playing poker. In unison, they growl at Dog Man. The warden says it seems that Dog Man does not fit in well with dogs and suggests it is because “you're too much of a man” (85). He laughs as he takes the sad Dog Man down the hall to his cell and slams the door, locking him inside.

Back in the city, Sarah suggests they divide up. She and Yolay plan to catch the crook who is impersonating Dog Man while Petey and 80-HD rescue Dog Man. Lil' Petey enters Cat Jail...
