Summary

The title of Chapter 5 is “The Dog-Man.” The chapter opens with a poster from the Dog Man movie. Samson Johnson is playing the part of the Chief, and he is shouting about being tired of the “dog-gone crimes in this dog-gone city” (76). He shouts for Dog Man, and an actor named Ding Dong Magoo enters, dressed as Dog Man. Ding Dong trips over Dog Man and Sam yells that Dog Man is supposed to be guarding Yolay. Sam orders Dog Man to apologize and he licks Ding Dong in the mouth. Samson quits and Sam fires Dog Man just as Yolay arrives, asking what the problem is.
