Act 2, Scene 1 Summary

It is nearly midnight and Faustus is in his study waiting for Mephastophilis to arrive with Lucifer's answer. As he waits, Faustus realizes he has done something very wrong by offering the devil his soul, but he resolutely stands to his plan to sell his soul, even when the Good Angel arrives to tell him that it is not too late to turn back. Instead, Faustus listens to the Bad Angel who reminds him of everything that he can get out of his deal with the devil.

Finally, midnight comes and Mephastophilis arrives. Lucifer has accepted the deal for Faustus's soul, though Faustus must sign a contract with his blood in order to make it final. With the contract in front of him, Faustus cuts into his arm and signs his name.
