Two Scholars wonder where their friend Faustus has gone and, seeing Wagner, they ask him. In response to their question, Wagner informs the Scholars that Faustus is at dinner with Valdes and Cornelius. Hearing this, the Scholars are alarmed, since they know that Valdes and Cornelius are magicians and necromancers and this must mean that Faustus is performing magic again. Thus, the Scholars decide to visit the rector and see if he can do something to help Faustus quit his magical studies.
