Chapters 5-9 Summary

In Chapter 5, the Doctor uses the sonic device again to ward the substance off. It works on the bird and blobs, but Kanjuchi tries to enter the chamber. He's no longer scared. He's furious. Kanjuchi pushes in and runs to the back wall as if he's guarding something. Fynn wants to run away, and The Doctor warns Fynn that ignoring it won't make it go away. Fynn thinks it's all alarmist nonsense.

Solomon walks through the abandoned eastern caverns. A figure greets him asking for more food. Solomon says he can only give one delivery a week, and if he's caught, he will be sent to the labour camp. The figure is Talib. He sends Talib away saying that he will deliver food on Sunday in the marked cavern.
