Chapter 12, The Thing Summary

Shortly after Bond goes to sleep, Quarrel wakes him with the news that someone is coming. Bond and Quarrel go to the river and wait for the vehicle whose engine they can clearly hear reaches them. The vehicle turns out to be some sort of all terrain vehicle that has been outfitted to look like a dragon, including a flamethrower in what is supposed to be the nose. Bond tells Quarrel to take up a position to the front of the vehicle and start firing at it. Bond hopes that they can disable the driver and take control of the vehicle so they will not have to walk back to the beach in the morning. However, the vehicle is well reinforced and the bullets do little damage. After a short time,.....
