Chapter 9, Close Shaves Summary

Quarrel and Bond quickly hide all traces of their presence from the beach and then find quick hiding places. Bond and Honey hide under a bush between some rocks. Bond instructs Honey to dig down into the sand as deeply as she can. Within minutes, they can hear the noise of a diesel engine. Soon a boat appears at the mouth of the river, with two men standing on the deck along with a machine gun. The boat stops in full view of Bond. At first, it seems that the boat will continue on. However, the two men see Honey's boat and begin to fire the gun at it. Then one of the men speaks on a loudhailer, warning them to come out. When they do not, the men fire on.....
