Chapter 5, Facts and Figures Summary

Bond is beginning to think there is much more to this Doctor No than he originally thought and that Strangeways was killed because of his investigation of Doctor No's island. Bond decides he must take precautions to insure he will not end up like Strangeways. When Quarrel arrives at his hotel that morning, Bond instructs him to rent them a house out in an isolated section of the island. Then Bond tells Quarrel to find two men who look like himself and Bond and hire them to drive Strangeways' car toward Montego. Bond instructs Quarrel to be careful he is not followed while doing these errands.

Bond spends the day at the King's House in order to speak with the acting governor. The acting governor is an uncooperative fellow who believes.....
