Holly Springs, Mississippi

The novel is set in modern times in Holly Springs, Mississippi. This is a small town where everyone knows everyone else. It is also a very Southern town that can trace its roots back to before the Civil War. For this reason, there is a great deal of pride in this area and a deep sense of history.

The Cedars

The Cedars is the home of Sherman Sanders. The house is a very well preserved house that dates back before the Civil War. The house is also the setting of two murders, those of Philip Hollandale and Sherman Sanders.

Cherryhill

Cherryhill is Trinket’s home. Cherryhill is not as old as The Cedars because it was burned by Grant and rebuilt. However, it is a nice old house that has been well preserved as well. Trinket is proud of her home.
