Chapters 37 through 39 Summary

In chapter thirty-seven, Beatrice, Caleb, their father (Andrew), and Marcus head for Dauntless compound. Once inside, Beatrice encounters Peter and realizes he isn't being controlled by the computer. He says the Dauntless leaders decided to remove him from the simulation and Beatrice realizes it's because Peter is so cruel he doesn't need the simulation to make him kill. Beatrice gets the jump on him and holds him at gunpoint, forcing him to tell her where the computers are located. He refuses and she shoots him in the arm. Peter says the leaders are listening and that if he tells her, they'll kill him. He says he'll give Beatrice the information but only if she takes him with her when she leaves the compound. She reluctantly agrees. Peter directs them to the correct building.
