Chapter 13 Summary

The Hainish provide a ship to take Shevek back to Anarres. Ketho, the ship's first mate, wants to land with him and explore Anarres. He has read some of Odo's writings and is curious about the planet. There would be the problem of the rule forbidding aliens from going anywhere on the planet except the Port of Anarres, but Shevek decides it is time for change; they are willing to risk the consequences of bringing the Hainishman home.

Chapter 13 Analysis

The final chapter of the novel brings Shevek full circle, back to where he started. He went to Urras to forge a relationship between it and his own planet, but he ended up finding that a much larger universe lies open to him and his people. Preparing to leave Urras, he feels like.....
