Chapter 7 Summary

Shevek finds a letter in his pocket asking him to join with his "brothers," presumably the Odonian rebels still living on Urras. He realizes he has not met or talked with one poor person since arriving, so he tries, but fails, to strike up a conversation with his servant Efor. He then goes to spend a week with Oiie's family, this time meeting Oiie's sister Vea. Shevek is attracted to her beauty and her cheerful personality, as well as the fact that she seems curious about Anarres. She makes him promise to visit her the next time he is in Nio Esseia.

Meanwhile, revolution is in progress in the country of Benbili, where Shevek has heard some of the Odonians live. He becomes interested in the conflict and also disgusted with the violence he.....
