On a regular Sunday evening, as their work is done in the clinic and the dog carcasses are loaded into the car, David and Bev talk. Bev thinks David is used to a different kind of life, sleeping with different women in the city. David is amazed at how women talk; Lucy must have told Bev all about her father's misfortunes with women. David grazes his finger across Bev's lips, and a flame is ignited.
