Chapters 28-30 Summary

In chapter 28, Bud arrives at the police station to find an angry Jen waiting for him. Bud learns that Jeff beat up a couple of boys after learning they were behind a recent rash of pro-Lamar spray paintings around the school. Bud sends Jen home and arranges with a friend in the DA's office to have Jeff released. In the truck afterward, Jeff announces to Bud that he knows about his affair with Holly. Bud promises to break the relationship off and to confess all to Jen. In chapter 29, Lamar steals a car from the library parking lot before going back to the farm to prepare for the night's activities. Lamar has Ruta Beth cut his long hair to help disguise him.
