Summary

Part two, “Alicia and Plum”, returns to Plum’s childhood. Plum and her mom moved from Boise to Los Angeles to live with Plum’s great-aunt Delia and her second husband Herbert, after her mom and dad split up. Whenever Plum spent time outside of the house, people on the street would stop in front of the house and take pictures. This made Plum feel self-conscious and she took to staying inside with the curtains drawn so that no one could see her. Plum confessed how unhappy the people taking pictures were making her feel and Delia explained that they were not there to photograph Plum: the house used to be owned by a famous actress from the 1920s named Myrna Jade and was featured on a tourist map of homes of the stars.
