Summary

In Chapter 50, Billy goes to a local bar for a drink. There are several other men in the bar, including a man whom others call Steve. Billy has never seen Steve before. Billy approaches Steve, who oddly says that his name is actually Joe. Billy and Steve begin to drink and converse together, and the subject of Caitlin Courtland comes up in conversation. Steve talks about a boy, Delmar Steadman, whom Steve had known as a teenager. Delmar was arrested one day after killing his ex-girlfriend. Steve talks about Caitlin again, and he also mentions the boy who was with Caitlin on the day of the kidnapping. When Steve leaves and drives away, Billy follows in his own truck.
