Fiction versus Reality

When the novel begins, Jessica believes her novels are pure fiction. Jessica was inspired by a visit to Concord, Massachusetts and has been writing the novels for four years. Jessica has twenty-nine manuscripts finished, but only two have already been sold. The first, "Tiger, Tiger" was released just the week before the novel begins and the second, "Dark Flame", is waiting on her editor's desk.

Without Jessica's knowledge, a vampire working for her editor has passed a copy of "Dark Flame" to the vampire community.
