September 14th Summary

Ed wakes up next to his wife, Martha, on the morning that the party is to set out on the river. Ed is packed and ready to go but, before he leaves, he enjoys a last opportunity to make love to his wife. However, as he enjoys her body, he thinks back to the young woman whom he photographed so recently.

As Ed makes his last-minute check of all of his equipment, his young son Dean appears out from all the gear, holding Ed's Bowie knife. Dean playfully waves the knife at his father, and they make some sport of it before Ed tosses the knife back with the rest of his gear. Then, while Ed finishes dressing, Lewis arrives. They quickly throw all of Ed's gear into the back of Lewis' station wagon.....
