Chapters 11-14 Summary

In Chapter 11, Ben screams down to the helicopter as it lands near Madec's camp, but the sound of the engines is too loud for anyone to hear him. Ben hopes the pilot will turn off the engine, but he does not. A game warden gets out of the helicopter, but Ben does not know who it is because this man is not in uniform. Ben tries to get the man's attention as he talks to Madec, but he cannot be heard. Unfortunately, the helicopter flies off without ever seeing Ben. Madec returns to the side of the butte and continues to attempt to create handholds in the side of the rock. Ben studies Madec's camp and his prints heading to and from the butte. Ben has an idea.
