Chapters 1-3 Summary

In Chapter 1, Ben, a college student, is acting as a guide for executive, Madec, in the desert near his hometown so that Madec might hunt and kill a single bighorn sheep. On their first night in camp, Madec told Ben about some of his business deals and Ben has gotten the sense that Madec is not only ruthless, but that he enjoys hurting his business rivals. Ben cannot wait until this week is over so that he can take the money he has earned and get away from unpleasant Madec. Now, three days into the trip, Madec is drawing down on a herd of bighorn and Ben has reason to hope that this trip will soon be over. Ben warns Madec not to fire until...
