Chapters 14-18 Summary

In chapter 14, Ryan calls and asks Tempe to be his guide in Beaufort. It seems Ryan has connected some phone calls made from the house in St-Jovite to a house in Beaufort. Tempe resists but is finally talked into it by her boss. Tempe decides to make the best of it and makes plans to go down early to spend a few days with her daughter, Katy. In chapter 15, Tempe and Katy drive down to Beaufort and settle in on a friend's boat. A friend of Tempe's, Sam, takes them out to dinner. Sam is the mayor of Beaufort and also runs a monkey sanctuary on Murtry Island near Beaufort.
