Summary

In Chapter 21, “The Kind of Promise you can Keep,” Mrs. Bryant drops Kiera off. She tells Andre that she feels Kiera and Sweet Pea are at a “delicate” age as an explanation for why she did not want Kiera to spend the night if a boy was present. Sweet Pea and Kiera leave Andre to “take one for the team” (168) and go to Sweet Pea's room. Kiera is surprised that Sweet Pea's bedroom is almost identical to her room at Liz's house. Sweet Pea points out that Andre painted the walls to look like the wallpaper at the other house, and Kiera agrees it is weird but sweet. The girls talk honestly about the current situation with their parents, including Nate's condemnation of Andre. Kiera says her parents have argued about it, “as if they didn't already have enough to argue about” (171). The...
