Summary

Chapter 9 is titled “The Witching Hour.” Sweet Pea and Oscar are watching the movie Jaws with Andre on Friday night. Sweet Pea notes that the movie should not be scary, but that it is. At one point, Oscar spills popcorn. Sweet Pea knows her mother would be upset about the mess, but Andre is not. Later, Oscar sleeps on an air mattress in Sweet Pea's room. She remembers that she did not go to Miss Flora Mae's house, and decides she should go now, though it is after midnight. She again notes the extra bedroom in this house, and decides not to look inside because Andre has not invited her.
