Summary

At the beginning of Chapter 30, back in Terhofstede again, Herman proposed that the group walk to Zwin and back without saying a word. Miriam Steenbergen, who had come as David’s newly-acquired girlfriend, suggested that they turn it into a game for points before being quickly shut down by Herman. Miriam was not popular with David’s friends. When David had introduced Miriam to Laura in the school cafeteria, prior to the second trip to Terhofstede, Miriam had been over friendly and too eager. The fact that Miriam and David couldn’t keep their hands off of each other disgusted Laura.
