Michael T. Osterholm, PhD, MPH

Michael Osterholm is one of the authors, the one who speaks in the first person throughout most of the book. Osterhom is a public health epidemiologist. He has had a long career in public health, starting in the Minnesota Department of Health. He is currently a professor of public health at the University of Minnesota, where he created the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP). He has served as an advisor on a number of governmental boards. He has written one book before, and hundreds of articles for both scientific journals and newspapers.

Whereas many epidemiologist are medical doctors, Osterholm holds a PhD and a Master of Public Health, so he focuses as much on the social and behavioral side of disease spread as the medical/scientific side. His personal experience lies not in hospitals or labs, but in personal interviews...
