Chapters 21-25 Summary

In chapter 21, Diz meets with Abe Glitsky, who informs him of Linda's murder and the suspect Alphonse Page, who Hardy had not heard mentioned to this point. Glitsky relates Sam's reaction and invites him to the interview that afternoon. When Hardy tells Glitsky that Father Cavanaugh believed that Sam Polk had something to do with Eddie's death, the detective asks to meet the priest.

At the rectory, Abe is surprised to realize he knows Father Jim. The two had worked together during the Berkeley riots. At that time Cavanaugh had worked to get unregistered guns off the streets in cooperation with the police. The discussion turns to Eddie's death and Cavanaugh relates the information Eddie had given him, including the name of Alphonse Page. Glitsky asks the priest when the last time he met with Eddie was and Father Jim tells...
